Wow! It's been 3 months since my last post, so I figured I was due a new one. Life has been busy to say the least. I am back in full on training for this race season and mix that with a baby...not much time to play on the internet, but I want to start updating the blog again more often.

So, I thought I would touch base on my fitness since having Abby. I'm back!! I vowed when I was pregnant that I would be back in my kit before race season. I am pretty anal about my physique and am not about to squeeze bulge into lycra, so I have been very fortunate to have lost the baby weight and also the inches. I'm still not quite as lean as I was pre-pregnancy, but I am getting there. I haven't been dieting and have done absolutely no ab work thus far, although I need to do core badly for some strength! Since I am still breastfeeding, I have to eat! Especially with the workout load that I have, I must replace lost calories. I have to make milk for my baby girl. My next blog will be about just that.

I really got fired up when I saw something online recently that personal trainer Jillian Michaels said about why she would never get pregnant to have children. She said that having a baby ruin a woman's body and her body will never be the same. I couldn't believe it. Ummm...ok. What ever floats your boat Jillian, but I have to disagree. It takes time and work ladies, but you can have your body back. To some mommies, it's important and to some not so important. To each their own, but reclaiming my physique was very important to me. I will say that breastfeeding has made it more difficult contrary to what you may read about breastfeeding making you lose weight quicker. Breastfeeding does not make you lose the weight quicker, especially if you are working out. But...again, I will blog more on that in the next post.

I am very happy to be back in the shape that I am already. After all, I am only a year away from age 40 (YIKES) so things don't bounce back quite as quick as if I were in my 20's. Also, having been pregnant with twins for the first trimester of my pregnancy, my belly got big quick. At any rate, I am super pleased with my post pregnancy physique.

I am also very pleased with how my fitness has come back. I started back with everything when Abby was around 3 weeks old and haven't stopped. Obviously, Ironman training is now in full gear and that started up in February. I'm back to the long runs, long rides, and long swims and I love it. I'm surprised at my strength at the moment having had a whole year out. Swimming better than I ever have before, cycling is coming along strong and running is going well. Blog more about that next time. For now....Abby's calling :) Gotta go!

Tonya, I loved reading this post - especially as my due date seems to be creeping closer and closer! :)

I'm super anxious to read your next post about breastfeeding and training as that's the one part of all this (besides the whole lack of sleep thing) that has me a little worried! :)

You look amazing momma!
